Saturday, July 1 & Sunday, July 2: Poet, scholar and activist, Dr. Estella Conwill Majozo (University of Louisville; Hunter College; Kentucky State University and Simmons College of Kentucky) will premiere The Freedom Clothes Project at the Clifton Center, 2117 Payne Street.  Events begin at 6:00 p.m. both days with an inaugural VIP Exclusive Reception and Artifacts Exhibition – cost is $60; $20; $15; $10.  The artifacts exhibit will be open to the public July 5-August 5, cost is $5.00; $3.00. For more information, contact the project consultants:  Mary E. Tuesday, July 4: Independence Day – Metro Offices are closed. Garbage, recycling and yard waste collections will be delayed by one day all week.

Monday, July 3 – Tuesday, July 4: 2017 Crescent Hill Old-Fashioned 4th of July Celebration from 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. at the Peterson-Dumesnil House, 301 S Peterson Avenue. Two days of celebration and good old-fashioned fun in the neighborhood! Live music from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. both days, a juried art fair from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., food/event booths, children’s fun zone, cake/prize booth, pet show, military vehicle display, antique car display and fireworks on Tuesday at 10 p.m. For more information and a detailed list of events please visit www.crescenthill.us.

Saturday, July 8: Bingham Park volunteer opportunity from 10:00 a.m. – Noon.  Bingham Park is located on Coral Avenue off Frankfort Avenue.  Cleanups are scheduled the 1st Saturday of every month.  Please note these dates are subject to cancellation due to weather. Saturday, July 8 & Sunday, July 9: FleaTiques at Mellwood Antiques, 1860 Mellwood Avenue. The event is held the 2nd weekend of the month beginning in April on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This is an outdoor market and the event is rain or shine. Tuesday, July 18: Crescent Hill Library, 2762 Frankfort Avenue, to host a local author event with Carolyn Furdek at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy a presentation from Carolyn Furdek, author of Locked-In: A Soldier and Civilian’s Struggle with Invisible Wounds. Carolyn is a West Point graduate, former Army Captain, combat heavy engineer with multiple deployments abroad. She is a Bellarmine Alumni that practices as a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Carolyn is a mental health advocate both for veterans and civilians in the community and seeks to help people who struggle and care for those with invisible wounds. She is donating a percent of the book proceeds to Athena’s Sisters, an organization that promotes healing and visibility for veteran women. Questions, please contact the branch at 574-1793.

Friday, July 28:  Historic Frankfort Avenue will host the F.A.T. Friday Trolley Hop from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm. The F.A.T.
