Monday, September 4: Labor Day – Metro Offices Closed. Collection of garbage, recycling and yard waste delayed by one day.

Monday, September 4: Subway Fresh Fit Hike Bike & Paddle at Waterfront Great Lawn. Booths open at 8:30 a.m. and the bike ride, hike and paddle all start at 10 a.m. For more information visit

Tuesday, September 5: Butchertown Neighborhood Association meeting at 6:00 p.m., location TBD.

Friday, September 8: Annual 9th District Back to School Block Party from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center, 201 Reservoir Avenue. Enjoy FREE swimming, pizza, door prizes and family fun! Anyone is invited to attend. All children must have a parent or guardian with them during the event.

Saturday, September 9: Bingham Park volunteer opportunity from 10:00 a.m. – Noon.  Bingham Park is located on Coral Avenue off Frankfort Avenue.  Cleanups are scheduled the 1st Saturday of every month.  Please note these dates are subject to cancellation due to weather. Saturday, September 9 & Sunday, September 10: Mellwood’s September Art Fair, enjoy access to the wide variety of resident artists, retail shops, and eateries permanently located in our 340,000 square-foot facility.  With fun inflatables for younger attendees, ample FREE parking, and easy access, the September Art Fair is the best place in town to discover unique holiday gifts, your favorite new artist, and a year-round hub for artisan-made items and cultural events.  The 9th consecutive edition of the Fair will also feature beer, wine, and bourbon tasting; expanded food offerings; exciting hands-on activities for children and families; live music into the evening both days; and dynamic demonstrations by potters, painters, dancers, and more.

Saturday, September 9 & Sunday, September 10: FleaTiques at Mellwood Antiques, 1860 Mellwood Avenue. The event is held the 2nd weekend of the month beginning in April on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This is an outdoor market and the event is rain or shine. Saturday, September 16: Women Veterans Open House from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Robley Rex Veterans Medical Center, 800 Zorn Avenue, west entrance. This event is free and no registration is required. For more information, please contact the Women Veterans Program Manager at 287-6050. Event will have VA and community resources, women’s health speakers, relaxation services, music, food and door prizes.

Monday, September 18: District 9 Community Conversation at 6:30 p.m. at Louisville Water Tower, 3005 River Road. Most of the time and focus will be on you. We are hoping for an unscripted, open conversation about your vision for D9 and the City. Please mark your calendar and join us – and bring along a friend or neighbor!

Tuesday, September 19: Clifton Council Meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Clifton Center, 2117 Payne Street.

Wednesday, September 20: Neighborhood Pedestrian and Bicycle Access Committee Meeting at 7:00 p.m. at United Crescent Hill Ministries, 150 S. State Street.

Sunday, September 23: Ursuline Sisters to host Bourbon Baroque from 7:00 – 8:15 p.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel on Lexington Road. These free concert series are in celebration of the Motherhouse’s 100th Birthday.

Friday, September 29: F.A.T. Friday Trolley Hop on the final Friday of the month from 6:00 – 10:30 p.m. Park at one of the many convenient FREE and public parking areas and board the Frankfort Avenue Trolley at any designated stop.
