Frankfort.pngI’m pleased to announce the fence and sidewalk project along Frankfort Avenue between Mellwood and Story Avenues is complete! THANK YOU to Metro Public Works for your tenacity in submitting several proposals to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) before receiving final approval for this project. I’ve been working on this project since I took office. I thought it would be a great way to cleanup one of the major corridors into the Butchertown Neighborhood.

If you are unfamiliar with the area, here is a little history. On Frankfort Avenue between Mellwood and Story, there is a bridge over Beargrass Creek. It was almost impossible to see the creek from the roadway because there was an unsightly chain length fence along both sides of the bridge. The chain length fence was installed by KYTC over ten years ago after someone leaned on the wrought-iron fence and it gave way and they fell into the creek. Fortunately no one was injured, but nearby businesses were concerned about pedestrian safety.

This project also included sidewalk repair along the northwest side of the street. Please check out before and after photos of the street.

Join us on Wednesday, July 12 at 11:00 a.m. for a celebration walk of this corridor!
